Tune up your technique!

Our private cross-country skate or classic lessons are tailored just for you!

Whether you want to learn the basics, glide more effortlessly, or level up your loppet performance, Bow Valley Nordic offers tailored private lessons and camps to suit your needs.

Our lessons are led by some of the most experienced instructors in Canada. We have a background of learning to ski as adults, so we understand the struggles of learning good habits – and un-learning bad ones.  We have several options to suit your needs, but if you have something else in mind, we are here for you.

Our programs are offered on the trails of Calgary, Kananaskis, Banff, Lake Louise and Bragg Creek and we have the flexibility to chase the best grooming of the day.

Note, for all lessons and camps, you are responsible for bringing your own ski equipment. We do not offer equipment rentals, however we can certainly point you in the right direction upon request. We will help you with grip waxing for classic lessons.

What's your style?

  • Group private lessons

Get a group of up to five friends together for a three-hour session at a mutually arranged day/time and location.  We will spend time working on technique improvement with video analysis, typically followed by a ski tour to work on your newfound skills over varied terrain. This option is offered in both classic or skate skiing techniques at a location with suitable grooming, e.g., Peter Lougheed Provincial Park (Pocaterra) for Classic, Mount Shark or Ribbon Creek for skate. Recommended for beginner to intermediate skiers.

Cost: $300 for 3 hours, up to 5 people

  • Performance ski improvement

This course, taught by CANSI III or IV instructors, will provide detailed analysis and feedback of your technique to gain that extra refinement to reduce fatigue, boost speed and improve confidence. This can be a private lesson, or we can work with up to four people for three hours.  We can work on uphills, downhills, double-poling, cornering, loppet tactics or anything in-between.  Recommended for intermediate to advanced skiers.

Cost: $350 for 3 hours, up to 4 people
